How The 7 Questions You Must Ask Before Hiring An Agent Can Improve Your Life

The markets reel everywhere after the last two years of low inventory and high appreciation rates, so finding the perfect home needs professional guidance. You should find real estate agents who understand the area that you are interested in, whether you are looking for houses in Vancouver or Toronto. Be cautious of whom you choose. Not all agents are perfect for you. It is crucial to ask a few questions to find the best agent.

Star Elite has compiled seven questions to ask before hiring a real estate agent.

1. Have you been an agent for a long time?

Everyone is new at something! But when you spend a few thousand dollars on your house, you need to work with someone with at least five or more years of experience in real estate.

2. Could you walk me through the steps of your work process?

If your agent loves talking about themselves, they must answer this question. It gives an idea of whether the realtor has a solid understanding of their job.

3. Do you know the area well?

Before contacting an agent, you must get some idea of the neighbourhood you are interested in moving to. When you have some places in mind, ask your agent how much they know about those places. They should know the local market intimately and can see a favourable change in real estate, so you are likely to benefit.

4. Is it a team effort, or do you work alone?

Considering real estate, it would be better if you get more help. When your agent works with a team, there are more brains to get help from.

5. Would you be able to recommend a contractor, lawyer, or inspector?

Several people get involved in a home purchase: the seller, buyer, and respective agents. While interviewing an agent, ensure they are well-connected. Therefore, the process speeds up and smooths out without any bumps.

6. Do you work full-time or part-time as an agent?

Most likely, you’ll need an agent who works full-time. So, they spend eight hours per day at work. But a part-time agent works with a single buyer at a time. It seems better than a full-time agent juggling multiple clients at once. When you interview an agent with many years of experience who works only part-time, it may be a great idea to go with them. But we say to prioritise full-time realtors over part-timers.

7. Are you able to work with both buyers and sellers?

An agent who knows both sides of the market will make it easy. You require an agent who thinks like a buyer and a seller. If you can find someone who can work as both a seller and a buyer, that would be a massive plus.
